🌙 Rest & Restore Protocol (RRP)
A gentle way to help your nervous system settle and come home to itself.
The Rest & Restore Protocol (RRP) is a new, music-based intervention created by Dr. Stephen Porges - renowned neuroscientist and founder of Polyvagal Theory - together with Anthony Gorry, a composer. RRP is designed to help your nervous system drop out of high-alert states and into a deep, restful calm.
If SSP helps you connect, RRP helps you settle.
This protocol is especially powerful for those who find it hard to rest, stay grounded, or feel fully present in their bodies. RRP can support the nervous system in shifting from survival mode into a more spacious, parasympathetic state - what Dr. Porges refers to as the “immobilization-without-fear” response.
🌿 Who is RRP for?
RRP may be helpful for children, teens, and adults who experience:
• Chronic stress or burnout
• High-alert or hypervigilant states
• Trauma, PTSD, or developmental trauma
• Shutdown, freeze, or disconnection from the body
• Sleep or digestive difficulties
• Nervous system fatigue or overload
• Highly sensitive or neurodivergent presentations
• Difficulty accessing calm, stillness, or rest
🛌 What makes RRP different?
RRP doesn’t use voice-filtered music like SSP. Instead, it uses specially curated low-frequency instrumental tracks designed to engage the nervous system in a calming, body-based way. You don’t have to concentrate, analyze, or “do” anything - just allow the music to gently support your system in finding a more restful rhythm.
Sessions can be done lying down or seated. Most people report feeling grounded, soothed, or even sleepy - like their body is exhaling after holding tension for too long.
🤝 Why work with me?
I was a provider in the RRP pilot study led by Dr. Stephen Porges and Anthony Gorry in the summer of 2024, and I’ve continued exploring how RRP can support complex and sensitive nervous systems ever since. I also bring decades of experience as a clinician, along with lived expertise in trauma, neurodivergence, and nervous system sensitivity.
RRP is deceptively simple - but when it’s introduced at the right time and pace, it can be profoundly effective. I offer RRP on its own or integrated into a broader plan that may include SSP, NeurOptimal®, Somatic Experiencing, and more.
📱 Accessing RRP with Me
RRP is currently delivered as a guided experience using a mobile app and a curated listening approach. It may be offered:
• As a stand-alone experience for those seeking grounding and rest
• Integrated into or following your SSP process
• As part of a broader nervous system healing journey
• Integrated into counselling, coaching or therapy
The exact approach depends on your (or your child's) needs, sensitivity, and goals. Together, we’ll find the pacing and delivery that works best for you.
I also include a family pet's RRP process at no extra charge when a human family member is receiving SSP—because our animals deserve nervous system care too.
📦 Independent Listening Package
For those seeking a flexible, self-paced approach, the Independent Listening Package offers:
• One online session at the start to guide you confidently into the process.
• Email check-ins Monday through Friday to support and adjust your journey as needed.
• Access to the RRP app for up to one year.
• Inclusion of a pet’s SSP process when working with a human is provided at no extra charge.
Additional online sessions together are available at $200 CAD for 60 minutes or $100 CAD for 30 minutes, for further support, to learn Somatic Experiencing (SE) orienting skills, or Brainspotting.
Extended access: Additional time on the app to continue with RRP is $200 CAD per additional year.
Family Discounts: Additional family members are $650 CAD for adults or $550 CAD for kids and teens.
Add-ons:
Combining RRP when recommended with Safe & Sound Protocol (SSP) or following RRP with SSP within 3 months of completing SSP is 50% off the current rate.
Investment:
$1,095 CAD (approx. $780 USD)
Covered by extended health plans that include registered social workers in Ontario.
