If you’ve been hearing about something called the Rest & Restore Protocol (RRP) and wondering what the buzz is about—you’re not alone.
This powerful new approach is helping people around the world feel more grounded, better rested, and more like themselves again.
I was fortunate to help Dr. Stephen Porges (the creator of Polyvagal Theory) and Anthony Gorry during the RRP pilot study in the summer of 2024. Since then, I’ve been using RRP with clients in my practice, and the results continue to amaze me.
🌿 What Is RRP?
RRP is a gentle, non-invasive listening program designed to support your body in shifting toward a calmer, more regulated state. It helps guide the nervous system into what’s often called rest and digest—the place where healing, recovery, and connection happen.
If you feel like you’re constantly running on empty, overwhelmed, or just not bouncing back the way you used to, RRP may be exactly the kind of reset your system is craving.
What Kinds of Changes Are Possible?
People often notice:
✔️ More restful, restorative sleep (even after years of insomnia)
✔️ Feeling calmer and less reactive
✔️ Improvements in focus and memory
✔️ More emotional balance and resilience
✔️ Reduction in chronic pain or tension
✔️ A general sense of being more present, grounded, and steady
In my own case, after decades of severe insomnia, I began sleeping deeply by the second night of RRP listening - without medication. Even now, months later, I’m still sleeping better than I ever have.
Clients of all ages have reported similar improvements - not just with sleep, but with anxiety, depression, executive functioning (especially for those with ADHD), and even physical mobility and chronic pain.
I’ve also noticed something more subtle, but profound: a shift in how I connect with others. I feel more secure, more at ease in relationships, and more like my full, authentic self.
This Isn’t a Quick Fix—It’s Something Deeper
RRP doesn’t force change. It invites it.
Because it works through your nervous system, the shifts often happen quietly—almost in the background. You might not even notice the full extent of what’s changing until someone close to you points it out. That’s completely normal.
These shifts are gentle but lasting. Over time, you may find yourself feeling calmer in situations that used to overwhelm you, responding instead of reacting, and sleeping better without even trying to.
Your Healing Journey Matters
If you’re curious about whether RRP could be helpful for you or a family member, I’d love to help you explore that.
At NeuroNest, I work with highly sensitive and neurodivergent individuals, those navigating complex trauma, and anyone who wants to feel more balanced and in tune with themselves. RRP is just one of the powerful tools we offer—and it can also be combined with other approaches like the Safe and Sound Protocol (SSP), iLs, and neurofeedback if appropriate.
✨ You don’t have to live in a constant state of stress or survival. There’s a gentler way forward - and it might start with just listening.
